Honoring the U.S. Air Force Birthday – September 18
Honoring the U.S. Air Force Birthday – September 18
On September 18th, 1947, the United States Air Force was officially established as a separate branch of the Armed Forces. While American air power played a crucial role in both World Wars, it wasn’t until after World War II that the Air Force became its own branch, marking a new era in military history.
Today, we celebrate 78 years of excellence, courage, and service from the men and women of the U.S. Air Force. From defending our skies to leading the way in space and advanced technology, the Air Force continues to protect our freedom with honor and distinction.
As a proud Marine Corps veteran, I believe it’s important to recognize and honor all branches of our military. The Air Force Birthday is more than a date on the calendar—it’s a reminder of the sacrifice, dedication, and innovation that keeps our nation strong.
At Flags Across the Upstate, our mission is simple: to honor our country by replacing worn-out American flags for homeowners and ensuring retired flags are handled with dignity. Patriotic days like the Air Force Birthday give us another opportunity to come together as a community, reflect on our freedoms, and show gratitude to those who serve.
